Australian motorcycle parts and accessory importer Steve Cramer Products has announced that the new 6D ATS-1 helmet is set to arrive in Australia. In development for nearly 3 years, the ATS-1 is the first street helmet to incorporate Omni-Directional Suspension (ODS) technology. ODS technology embodies a fully active, in-helmet suspension and kinetic energy management system. The system is designed to reduce energy transfer to the brain over all speeds of velocity impacts for both linear and angular accelerations.

The 6D’s suspended multi-liner assembly will compress and shear omni-directionally when subjected to impact. In the helmet, 27 dampers isolate impact energy with the elastic dampers shape providing a progressive spring rate that manages low and mid-speed accelerations, while simultaneously allowing the inner EPS liner to shear in 3-dimensional space within itself. This omni-directional suspension capability provides ‘six degrees of freedom’, which became the inspiration for the company name 6D.

The 6D ATS-1 helmet incorporates an advanced airflow management system designed to provide adjustable airflow throughout the entire helmet. This airflow system aids in heat and moisture evacuation from within the helmet’s interior area providing a cooler and safer environment during extreme riding conditions. Four adjustable intake ports channel fresh air into the helmet where it is managed by a network of 15 transfer ports and 5 exhaust ports to keep the air moving.

The visor incorporates a lock-down lever that doubles to provide incremental ventilation when needed. Ten distinctive ratchet positions offer a setting for every riding and the articulating pivot ensures a snug fit to the shell when closed. Visor changes are easy and quick requiring no tools and the ATS-1 includes a clear Pinlock anti-fog insert. A beveled top edge improves laminar flow onto the helmet’s surface reducing buffeting and wind noise, while the shield’s flat surface accepts accessory tear-offs for race applications.

Removable and washable, the 6D ATS-1 comfort liner coverts for warm weather riding by removal of the rear neckroll cuff. High-tech fabrics mated to CAD designed internal padding provide comfort, noise suppression, and moisture dissipation. Recess pockets provide room for internal speaker installation and the liner is vailable in multiple sizes for a customisable fit. Additionally the helmet is eyewear compatible with the comfort liner accommodating most designs of glasses.

With a 3K carbon-fibre shell layup and in three shell sizes for heads sized XS – XXL, the 6D ATS-1 is certified to exceed US DOT, ECE 22.05, AS 1698 and ACU standards. Available in Gloss White, Gloss Black and Matte Black for a rec retail of $995, the 6D ATS-1 is distributed through Steve Cramer Products.
