Three-time ASBK champion plated and on the road to recovery.
Yamaha Racing Team’s Glenn Allerton is recovering from the broken arm he sustained in Wakefield Park practice on Friday after being operated on earlier today.
The 36-year-old triple Australian Superbike champion remains hospitalised in Goulburn this evening after having a plate and 12 screws inserted to stabilise the injury.
Allerton cleanly broke his left humerus in two places when he was high-sided from his factory YZF-R1M while braking into turn 10 during FP2, now facing eight to 10 weeks on the sidelines, which would rule him out of Winton next month.
It’s expected Allerton, who lives just over an hour north, will be released from hospital on Sunday afternoon to continue the early stages of his recovery process. It’s not decided whether he will be track-side for tomorrow’s championship races.
