Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team’s Leon Camier will endeavour to return to racing this weekend at Donington Park’s sixth round of the World Superbike Championship (WorldSBK), however Friday’s practice will determine if he lines up for Saturday and Sunday’s races.

The British ace was involved in a multi-rider crash at Aragon’s third round in Spain, which resulted in a host of injuries to his chest area that ultimately ruled him out for stops four and five of the series.

“I’m looking forward to heading to Donington this weekend for my home race,” Camier explained. “After Imola I took a couple of days off and since then I’ve been doing a lot of treatment to help in my recovery.

“Although I’m still in some pain, I feel better in training and my lung capacity has come on quite a lot so I feel that physically I’m in a better place than I was in Imola. I’ll only really know how much better my condition is once I get on my Fireblade, but the goal for me and the team is to try and get through the whole race weekend.”

Camier attempted to contest the previous around in Imola, Italy, however after he was deemed unfit to ride, Australian British Superbike regular Jason O’Halloran was drafted in for a guest opportunity that unfortunately ended with a leg injury in race one.
