Australian Jack Miller has taken an understanding position on the contract saga with Ducati that transpired earlier this month, where his extension for the 2020 season – which he ultimately finalised last week – was delayed as the Italian manufacturer was rumoured to have engaged interest in luring Jorge Lorenzo back to the brand with Pramac Racing.

Miller stated there was truth to the rumours while speaking at the Austrian grand prix two weeks ago, however it was later suggested that Lorenzo would fulfill his two-year deal with Repsol Honda, and as a result, Miller’s contract with was signed in the following week.

The Pramac Racing ace, who’s scored two podiums this season, expressed no hard feelings towards the company despite believing his deal was nearing completion at the conclusion of June.

“Do I look more relaxed? Maybe a little, maybe less pissed off let’s say that – I’m happy,” said Miller at the British grand prix press conference. “First of all I want to start by saying I cannot thank Paolo Campinoti [enough] for everything he has done especially when it came to pushing for me.

“He really had my back through the whole thing so for sure he is the biggest guy I need to thank, between him and Francesco Guidotti, they did a great job and really had my back through the whole situation. It is business and they are trying to win races which I completely understand so I just hope that I can prove that I am to do so.

“I am more of a sweep it under the rug kind of guy. Push the shit under the rug and leave it there. In this paddock, if you get butt hurt from everything that goes on like that you are not going to be here very long. For me, it is business.”

Miller was understood to have received offers from rival manufacturers, including Red Bull KTM Factory Racing amid Johann Zarco’s departure, although he turned down those opportunities to remain aboard a current-spec factory Ducati next season. Silverstone’s British grand prix kicks off today with the opening practice sessions.
