McAMS Yamaha’s Jason O’Halloran has vowed to come out fighting when the 2022 British Superbike Championship (BSB) Showdown commences at Oulton Park, making a setup step during the final race at Snetterton.

O’Halloran entered the races at round eight on the back foot, having suffered issues on Friday then starting the Sprint from P17.

The Australian managed to salvage 12-9-5 finishes across the weekend, with his strongest outing being the last race. He stated: “It’s been a hard weekend, we had some issues beyond our control on Friday and that kind of ran in to yesterday morning so we didn’t get any dry laps until the first race.

“In that race I got a good lap time for today but we tried something with the bike and it didn’t quite work, I was just circulating not really racing. We changed the bike completely for the last race and felt the best I’d felt all weekend. We have something to work with there now.

“We are fortunate with the Showdown as while we’ve not had the best weekend we’re only 13 points down. The championship starts at Oulton Park and we head there on a positive note not a negative so we’ll come out fighting at Oulton.”

After a relatively quiet start to season 2022, O’Halloran found his stride following a final race setup change at round two. He went on to finish each of the next 12 races on the rostrum, including seven victories.

The recent two rounds have been a challenge for the number 22 however, but he enters the Showdown second in the standings, just 13 from leader Bradley Ray (Rich Energy OMG Racing Yamaha).

Oulton Park on 23-25 September  – round nine of the 2022 BSB Championship – marks the first of three Showdown rounds, with the series moving to Donington for its 10th stop before concluding at Brands Hatch on 14-16 October.
