British Superbike Championship (BSB) contender Josh Brookes will return to domestic competition this Saturday, using the first round of the St George MCC Summer Night Series to continue to familiarise himself with the BMW platform ahead of next season.

Despite immense success in BSB throughout the years, Brookes suffered a challenging 2022 season with MCE Ducati and failed to make the Showdown for the first time in his career.

With 54 BSB race wins and 147 podiums alongside the 2015 and 2020 premier class titles, Brookes makes the switch to FHO Racing to compete on BMW machinery next season. While the Australian has represented the manufacturer in the past, racing for the brand in the 2016 Superbike World Championship, he is excited at the prospect of competing at Sydney Motorsport Park (SMSP) with Livson Racing to help with his familiarisation.

“Sydney Motorsport Park is one of my favourite circuits, so to be back home in Australia and taking part in the St George Summer Series, especially under lights is something I’m really looking forward to,” Brookes shared.

“I’ve joined FHO Racing (the Official BMW BSB team) for 2023 so it will be great to have some track time and get familiar with the BMW ahead of the new season too.

“Thank you to Nathan [Spiteri] from Livson Racing for collaborating, my boss Faye at FHO Racing and the St George Motorcycle Club, hopefully, see a few people out there on Saturday night!”

Also BMW-equipped, Lachlan Epis is set to make a racing return from injury this Saturday night at SMSP, with a range of national talent often using the events to keep sharp during the Mi-Bike Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) off-season.
