Australia’s Tom Edwards will contest the European-based WorldSSP Challenge, competing with the YART Yamaha WorldSSP Team through the 2023 season.

Runner-up in the Australian Supersport Championship two years ago, Edwards competed in the opening two rounds of the domestic 2022 season on a 600 before venturing on another stint overseas.

He contested select WorldSSP rounds last year as a wildcard with the YART outfit, scoring a best result of P9 in race two at Estoril. As part of the WorldSSP challenge in 2023, Edwards is set to compete in all of the European-based rounds of the Supersport World Championship.

“Excited to announce I’ll be competing in the World Supersport 600 Challenge in 2023 with YART Yamaha WorldSSP Team next year,” Edwards shared.” Extremely grateful for this opportunity and I’m looking forward to building on the progress the YART team and I made together this year in our wildcard rounds. Can’t wait to get the season started.”

Edwards will be joined on the WorldSSP grid in 2023 by fellow Australians Oli Bayliss, switching to the D34G Racing team to contest his second complete world championship campaign, and Luke Power who makes the move from the MotoAmerica Championship to represent the Motozoo Racing by Puccetti team.

The first of 12 rounds in this year’s WorldSSP Championship takes place at Phillip Island on 24-26 February.
